Tenth grade students of St. Kabir School, Ahmedabad role played as Gujarat Cancer Society (GCS) Volunteers and conducted an in - depth study of cancer and generate awareness in the community.
We started our journey by conducting internet research and visiting GCS to know about cancer. We interviewed an Oncologist to get an insight about the causes and the preventive measures. We also interviewed patients to collect first hand information about the nature of patients suffering from cancer.
We came to know that Cancers occurring in the Indian population are preventable by following some healthy habits and by regular medical checkup. Majority types of cancers, if detected early, are curable to a large extent. The early the detection, the greater are the chances of cure. But how many people know about these facts! We decided to perform skits and create flyers to spread awareness about cancer and suggest preventive measures.
